Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 19, 2026

The short version: Reclaim does not collect, sell, or upload your data. All scanning and duplicate detection happen on your iPhone. Reclaim has no servers, no user accounts, and no analytics or tracking. Your photos never leave your device.

This Privacy Policy explains how the Reclaim iPhone app ("Reclaim", "the app", "we", "us") handles information. By downloading or using Reclaim, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we do not collect

Reclaim is designed to work without collecting your personal information. Specifically, we do not:

2. How Reclaim uses your photo library

To do its job, Reclaim needs permission to access your photo library. With your permission, the app reads your photos and videos only on your device in order to:

This processing uses Apple's on-device frameworks. The pixels of your photos and videos are never sent off your device by Reclaim. You can grant full access or limited ("Selected Photos") access, and you can change this at any time in the iOS Settings app.

3. Information stored on your device

To make scanning fast and to remember your preferences, Reclaim stores a small amount of data locally on your device only. This may include: photo identifiers, file sizes, dates, image dimensions, a coarse perceptual "fingerprint" (a numeric hash used to detect duplicates, from which an image cannot be reconstructed), and app settings such as whether you have completed onboarding. This data is kept in the app's private storage, is excluded from iCloud backup, and is removed when you delete the app.

4. Network access

Reclaim's only network access is to Apple:

5. Deletions

When you remove items in Reclaim, iOS moves them to your device's Recently Deleted album, where they remain recoverable by you for approximately 30 days before iOS permanently removes them, unless you delete them permanently yourself. Reclaim does not permanently erase your media on its own.

6. Children's privacy

Reclaim is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children. Because we collect no personal information, we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

7. Third parties

Reclaim does not integrate advertising networks, analytics providers, or other third-party data processors. The only third party involved is Apple, which processes App Store purchases and provides the operating-system frameworks the app runs on, under Apple's Privacy Policy.

8. Your choices

You are always in control: you can grant, limit, or revoke photo-library access in iOS Settings, you can choose exactly what to delete, and you can remove all locally stored data by deleting the app.

9. No warranty and no liability

Reclaim is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer of Reclaim shall not be liable for any loss, corruption, or deletion of photos, videos, or other data, or for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising out of or related to your use of the app. You are solely responsible for maintaining your own backups of your photos and videos (for example, via iCloud or another backup service) and for reviewing items before deleting them. See our Terms of Service for the full disclaimer and limitation of liability, which are incorporated into this policy by reference.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of Reclaim after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
